KedaiKOPI Survey: Infrastructure Development Is Jokowi's Success

JAKARTA - The results of the KedaiKOPI survey show that the majority of respondents interviewed assess infrastructure development as a manifestation of the success of the administrations of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.

Of the total 1,200 respondents who were interviewed in the period 16-24 November 2021, around 39 percent of them assessed that the current government's success was shown through infrastructure development, said the Executive Director of the KedaiKOPI Survey Institute Kunto Adi Wibowo when presenting the survey results in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Sunday, 19 December.

In addition, around 19 percent of respondents said that the success of the government's work can be seen from the decline in COVID-19 cases, while another 9 percent of respondents said that the government has succeeded in improving people's welfare.

In the results of the same survey, other respondents assessed that the government had succeeded in implementing the COVID-19 vaccination program, empowering the economy, especially the MSME sector, and education.

Then, as many as 1.2 percent of respondents think the government has succeeded in eradicating corruption and the same number of respondents think that the government has overcome labor problems.

As many as 1 percent of 1,200 respondents or about 12 people said the government had implemented a free health program, while another 0.8 percent of respondents or around 10 people said the government had succeeded in eradicating terrorism.

The KedaiKOPI survey institute also collects public opinion related to the problems faced by society today.

As a result, he said, about 37 percent of respondents or 444 people interviewed thought the COVID-19 pandemic was still the main problem, but another 17.4 percent of respondents considered high unemployment and lack of job opportunities to be problems that many people experience.

In the survey results, other issues that have received public attention include high prices for basic necessities (9 percent), corruption (6.1 percent), high foreign debt (4.6 percent), low public purchasing power (4.5 percent). percent), economic downturn (3.9 percent), poverty and inequality (3.7 percent), unequal distribution of aid (1.5 percent), and education services are less evenly distributed (1.6 percent).

Despite these various problems, the majority of respondents still claimed to be comfortable with President Joko Widodo's leadership.

"About 68.8 percent of the 1,200 respondents said they were comfortable, while 31.2 percent said otherwise," said Kunto.

There are various reasons respondents claim to be comfortable with Jokowi's leadership, including they feel the country is safe, comfortable, and freedom is guaranteed. There are at least 28.8 percent of the 826 respondents who stated that reason.

Other reasons, respondents appreciate the distribution of aid to the people, more equitable development, Jokowi's figure as a pro-people leader, handling of COVID-19, and the economy which is considered to be starting to improve.

However, as many as 374 respondents argued otherwise because they considered the people to be not prosperous, the fate of the workforce was deteriorating, economic development was uneven, discrimination and security threats existed, health services were uneven, corruption, and the high state debt during the administration of President Jokowi and Vice President Ma'ruf.
