Golkar Interested In Joining The PKB-PAN-PPP Axis, But Airlangga Hartarto's Presidential Candidate
JAKARTA - The Golkar Party (Golkar) is interested in forming a coalition with the Islamic party axis, which is being discussed by the National Awakening Party (PKB). PKB previously invited the United Development Party (PPP) and the National Mandate Party (PAN) to form an alternative axis in the 2024 presidential election.
According to the Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, now is indeed the time when all political forces are exploring the possibility of establishing cooperation towards a potential coalition in the 2024 Simultaneous Election.
"So it's legal, and indeed it is possible for every political party to try to implement its political plans. Including PKB which wants to form a coalition with other Islamic parties," said Doli to reporters, Sunday, December 19.
Doli also stated that Golkar was ready to build a coalition with these Islamic parties. As a nationalist-religious center party, he said, Golkar opens cooperation with any political forces.
"We, Golkar too, as a central party, which is characterized by a religious nationalist political party, are also very open to being able to work together and be able to build coalitions with any political power, especially with Islamic parties," said the chairman of Commission II of the DPR RI.
However, Doli added, regarding the presidential candidate, Golkar has already decided General Chairperson Airlangga Hartarto as the presidential candidate to be carried.
"(But, red) We have decided that our presidential candidate is Pak Airlangga Hartarto," said Doli. Previously, the call for the PKB, PAN and PPP axes came from the Deputy Chairperson of the PKB, Jazilul Fawaid. According to him, PKB will be able to carry presidential and vice presidential pairs if it joins PAN and PPP.
"I, as the Deputy General Chair of the Election Winning Sector, want PKB to lead the axis. PPP should also join because they are both green. Just add one more, leaving is already, for example PAN is enough, let's go. Bismillah," said Jazilul.
