JAKARTA - A total of 103 joint East Jakarta Metro Police officers raided a number of night entertainment venues with live music in the East Jakarta area, Sunday, December 19, early in the morning. When they saw the arrival of the officers, a number of women at night in the cafe panicked and fled.
From the results of the raid, officers still found violations exceeding operating hours and COVID-19 health protocols.
At one of the Hunter cafe entertainment venues located on Jalan DI Panjaitan, Cipinang Melayu Village, Makasar District, the officers gave an ultimatum to permanently shut them down if they violated again.
The reason is, the cafe often commits violations and seems to operate in a cat and mouse manner when officers come. As happened in the raid Sunday 19 in the morning.
Although the cafe was visited by officers because it exceeded operating hours, visitors and workers actually left the place. They swore to trick the officers into leaving, and they went back to their activities.
However, the foresight of the East Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Pol Erwin Kurniawan, managed to clean the courtyard at the entertainment venue. Apparently, the officers again found women of the night and visitors cursing at several points where there was minimal lighting.
The police chief advised them to disperse before the officers took firm action. Then the visitors left the location in fear. The police chief also gave a final warning to the cafe manager.
The raid was resumed. The second location is targeting a nightclub named Sirma on Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo, Cawang. In this place, officers found the same violation.
Even so, the officers dispersed the visitors who were busy partying liquor (alcohol) while accompanied by a female night song guide. The raid was again continued to the Cipayung area and several other points.
Erwin explained that this activity was carried out with joint officers and large-scale patrols.
"Today we are carrying out large-scale patrol activities as well as Yustisi's operation to enforce health protocols," he told VOI at the raid location, Sunday, December 19 in the morning.
The operation was intensified closer to the Christmas and New Year holidays, because it was suspected that there would be crowds.
"Towards the Christmas and New Year holidays, community activities increase, this creates the potential for crowds," he said.
Especially now that the government is wary of a new variant of the Omicron virus.
"We all know that the government is very intense in preventing the spread of a new variant of the Omicron virus. The public needs to be made aware, we will continue to carry out this operation," said the Police Chief.
