WIKA Targets Completion Of Sarinah Building Renovation On August 17, 2021

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA), Agung Budi Waskito, is targeting the Sarinah Building renovation to be completed on August 17, 2021. According to Budi, the budget needed to renovate Sarinah reaches Rp700 billion.

"WIKA is ready to support and carry out the construction of the Sarinah Building in a timely manner. So if today it is announced, hopefully 17 August 2021 we will inaugurate it," he said, in a press conference for the inauguration of the Sarinah transformation at the Sarinah shopping center, Jakarta, Tuesday. , August 18th.

Agung explained, in implementing this renovation, WIKA involved 400 workers who were under 45 years old. This is because it follows and is disciplined in implementing the COVID-19 protocol. He hopes that in the midst of this pandemic this project can run smoothly and on time.

"Then for the level of domestic content (TKDN) almost 100 percent uses local materials except escalators. Then we also instruct our field friends to spend under 50 million we use PaDi (digital market) for SMEs," he explained.

On the same occasion, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir welcomed this. He hopes that the transformation of the Sarinah shopping center can be completed on time.

"Earlier the Managing Director (Wijaya Karya) said (completed) August 17, 2021. Thank God if this is true. I hope August 17, 2021, we can see the Indonesian icon, the icon of the City of Jakarta can appear prime again and support local brands can be the backbone and this is a part of it. that must happen, "he said.

Erick said, Sarinah's transformation is something that must be realized in supporting the independence and advancement of local products. The government wants to make Sarinah the center of UMKM.

In the transformation, Erick asked Sarinah to also collaborate with BUMNs that are members of the tourism cluster such as Angkasa Pura, Garuda Indonesia, and Hotel Indonesia.

According to Erick, BUMNs that are members of the tourism cluster have a big power in supporting Sarinah's transformation without having to destroy the cooperation ecosystem between BUMN and the private sector and MSMEs.

"I hope Sarinah is not just a transformation but also collaborates, especially since it's already under a very strong cluster," he said.

Erick also stressed that state-owned companies must prioritize local products in Sarinah, both for Hotel Indonesia, Angkasa Pura, and Garuda Indonesia.
