SUMSEL - The South Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati Sumsel) confirmed that the suspect Alex Noerdin will soon enter the trial stage in the case of alleged corruption in the grant funds for the construction of the Sriwijaya Palembang Grand Mosque.
Head of the Legal Information Section of the South Sumatra Prosecutor's Office Muhammad Radyan said this was because the South Sumatra High Court investigators had stated that the case file for Alex Noerdin, who is also a member of the DPR and former Governor of South Sumatra, was complete.
"The case file for suspect Alex Noerdin has been declared complete by investigators since last Monday. After that, investigators just hand over the suspect and evidence to the public prosecutor. It will be on trial soon," he said in Palembang, Antara, Friday, December 18.
Apart from Alex, five other suspects, namely Mudai Maddang, Laonma L Tobing, Akhmad Najib, Agustinus Antoni, and Loka Sangganegara also immediately went to trial. The investigators have declared their case files complete.
The suspects have a vital role in the plan to build the Great Mosque of Sriwijaya Palembang which was built on an area of nine hectares on Jalan Governor H Bastari, Jakabaring, Palembang City. Until finally the Prosecutor's Office of South Sumatra found an alleged irregularity in the construction of the mosque because until now it was still in the form of a foundation.
Alex Noerdin was named a suspect on Wednesday, September 22. He as the former Governor of South Sumatra is considered responsible for the disbursement of grant funds for the construction of the largest prototype mosque in Asia worth IDR 130 billion through a decree (SK) that he issued.
Furthermore, he was also suspected by the South Sumatra Public Prosecutor's Office of receiving a cash flow of Rp.2,643,000,000 from the construction, as well as giving instructions for the disbursement of Rp. 100 billion per year to the then Head of the South Sumatra BPKAD, Laonma L Tobing.
Although he had denied it when he was a witness in a virtual trial at the Palembang District Court on Tuesday, September 28, chaired by Judge Sahlan Effendi.
Similarly, the suspect, Mudai Maddang, who at that time served as General Treasurer of the Sriwijaya Grand Mosque Development Waqf Foundation, was also the recipient of the development grant.
The following is also the suspect, Laonma L Tobing, who served as the former Head of the South Sumatra BPKAD who issued the grant funds, assisted by the suspect Agustinus Antoni, the former Head of the Budget Section of the South Sumatra BPKAD.
As for the suspect, Akhmad Najib, at that time he served as Assistant I for the Welfare Division of the South Sumatra Provincial Government who received the authority through a decree from the Governor to sign a memorandum of agreement for regional grants (NPHD) which was one of the conditions for the disbursement of the grant funds.
The signing was a problem, because the South Sumatra Prosecutor's Office found that previously it was not equipped with a proposal for a grant application. Therefore, the suspect Akhmad Najib is considered to know and was named a suspect on Friday (1/9).
Finally, the suspect is Loka Sangganegara as the project manager for the contractor in the construction of the mosque.
The South Sumatra High Court assessed that the state had suffered a loss of IDR 130 billion from the grants provided from the 2015 South Sumatra Regional Budget of IDR 50 billion and 2017 of IDR 80 billion.
As a result of the suspect's actions, they are suspected of violating Article 2 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law (UU) Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code and subsidiary Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 20/2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
