Tokopedia And GoPay Adopt QRIS As Digital Payment

JAKARTA - Tokopedia and GoPay have just adopted QRIS cashless payments, amid increasing digital transactions in Indonesia.

In this case, both will target tens of thousands of stalls in the Mitra Tokopedia ecosystem as well as MSMEs in the future, and assist them in the digital transaction process.

“This initiative allows people to shop at warungs without cash. Just scan the QR code QRIS in the shop to make payments," said Tokopedia's Director of Public Policy and Government Relations, Astri Wahyuni in a statement quoted by VOI, Friday, December 17.

Astri hopes that by adopting QRIS, it can encourage the contribution of traditional business activists to the growth of the digital economy.

"At the same time helping to expand the reach of the use of QRIS from Bank Indonesia because we believe collaboration is the key to the country's recovery," said Astri.

According to Bank Indonesia data, as of December 10, 2021, there are already more than 13.6 million merchants, and as many as 96 percent are MSMEs who are members of the QRIS ecosystem.

"We really welcome the collaboration with Tokopedia and GoPay in expanding the use of QRIS, especially for MSMEs in the Tokopedia Partner ecosystem," said Assistant Governor of Bank Indonesia / Head of the Payment System Policy Department, Filianingsih Hendarta.

Since 2019 GoPay has digitized merchants who are members of the GoTo ecosystem through QRIS to help the public make payment transactions more efficiently.

For information, Mitra Tokopedia has been used by millions of traditional business activists in more than 500 cities or regencies in Indonesia. The number of additional cities and districts has more than doubled from two years ago.
