From The Murder Case Of A Taiwanese Foreigner, Police Unload Illegal Abortion Clinic
JAKARTA - The police uncovered the practice of illegal abortion with a gynecology clinic in Senen, Central Jakarta. The disclosure of this illegal practice was based on the development of the murder case of a citizen of origin (WNA) from Taiwan, Hsu Ming Hu.
Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Yusri Yunus, said the disclosure of the practice of abortion was based on information from the suspect S. Because, based on the results of the examination, the suspect was known to have aborted the pregnancy at the clinic.
"This case originated from information that we thought we could and from the case of the murder of a Taiwanese citizen. The suspect's pregnancy was aborted with the help of the victim's own expense. From the information S was developed by the Criminal Police of the Metro Jaya Police," Yusri told reporters, Tuesday, August 18.
From the disclosure of the case, 17 people were named as suspects. They are doctors, nurses and brokers who have the role of finding customers.
"The disclosure of this case was last August 3 by securing 17 suspects," he said.
Meanwhile, the Director of General Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Tubagus Ade Hidayat, added that there were three doctors named as suspects. They do have abilities in the field of content but do not use them according to applicable regulations.
"The abortion incident which was not in accordance with the provisions and secured by 17 suspects consisted of 3 doctors, 1 midwife, 2 nurses, 4 administrators in charge of negotiating the acceptance and distribution of money, 4 people helped. Finally, there were 3 people who had an abortion," he said.
In addition, to disguise their actions, the suspects also received obstetric care services. Thus, the clinic which is located at Jalan Kenari, Senen, is impressed as an ordinary obstetric clinic.
"These doctors are obstetricians so that this clinic is not only an abortion clinic but a clinic in the context of gynecology such as the installation of family planning, examination of the womb and others, but in addition to providing medication, it also performs abortion practices," said Tubagus.
In this case, the police confiscated various kinds of medical practice equipment, drugs and cash to be used as evidence. In addition, dozens of suspects were subject to different articles with the threat of up to five years in prison.
The articles imposed include Article 299, 346, 348 paragraph 1 and 349 of the Criminal Code and Article 194 in conjunction with Article 75 concerning health and Article 77A in conjunction with Article 45A of the Child Protection Law.
