DKI Provincial Government Plants Rare Trees In Bio Trans Park

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has planted 15 types of trees, some of which are rare in the "Friday Planting" program at the Bio Trans Park which was recently inaugurated by the Governor of DKI Anies Baswedan.

"Some of the trees planted are rare endemic trees," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Parks and Forest Service, Suzi Marsitawati, quoted by Antara, Friday, December 17.

He explained that the 15 types of trees include Buni Trees, Kecapi Trees, Gowok Trees, Salam Trees, Cempedak Trees, Cambodia Trees and Dadap Trees.

Each tree, he continued, was given a "barcode" board containing information on plant species that could be accessed by the public for educational purposes.

"Planting these tree species is one of the conservation efforts of rare trees and is expected to attract birds as a transit habitat when migrating," he added.

Suzi added that the DKI Provincial Government has a "Tree Planting Friday" program and the tree planting activity at the Bio Trans Park is the seventh activity after previously being held in Green Open Space (RTH) or other parks in Jakarta.

Previously, tree planting was held in Munjul RTH, East Jakarta and in the Mangrove Ecotourism Forest in North Jakarta with a total of 2,750 trees.

"Friday's tree planting activity is expected to create quality green open spaces with a balanced combination of city ecology and aesthetics and make Jakarta a beautiful and comfortable city," he added.

Meanwhile, the Trans Bio Park was built on land owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government with a total area of 2,500 square meters.

The park consists of 1,483 square meters of green open space and 522 square meters of blue open space that can accommodate about 3,000 square meters of water.

Suzi added that some of the land was a former gas station that had been re-functioned into a green open area and a handover process had been carried out from the Regional Asset Management Agency to the Central Jakarta City Parks and Forests Administration Sub-dept.

Suzi added that the name Biotrans Park has the meaning of biodiversity, which includes fruit trees and flowering trees to attract animals, birds and insects.

Not only that, there is also a blue open space as a habitat for aquatic biota where 10,000 fish seeds have been stocked.
