Rembang Regency Government Ignores Flags, Ganjar: Strange

JAKARTA - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo regretted the attitude of the Rembang Regency Government which neglected to put up the red and white flag during the celebration of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day in the local square.

"I have contacted the Regent of Rembang and their understanding is different. They admitted their mistake was ignoring this matter, but finally the Rembang Regency Government put up a red and white flag on the Rembang square just before the seconds of the proclamation," said Ganjar as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, August 18.

The governor revealed, from the communication, Rembang Regent Abdul Hafizd said that the center of the celebration was held at the government office and did not hold crowds in the square.

"In fact, the square is not only an open space, but a cultural place that is usually used as a venue for performances, show venues and others. So when there is a crowd, especially on August 17, the community awaits the custom of installing flags in the square. the flag that is being installed is strange, "he said.

Ganjar continued, should all local governments understand about it, moreover all regional heads have been ordered to put up a red and white flag every day during August.

"We should all understand that, the government must care and must not be ignored," he said.

Previously it was reported, the charismatic cleric KH Mustofa Bisri or Gus Mus criticized the Rembang Regency Government for not installing a red and white flag in the square on August 17, 2020.

Gus Mus conveyed this criticism through a video that was widely spread on the WhatsApp social media network on Monday (17/8).

Ganjar appreciated Gus Mus's steps in emphatically criticizing the Rembang government, because according to him, the government should care about every condition, not neglect to remain solemnly celebrating Indonesia's Independence Day.

"Apparently, the sensitivity of the community is extraordinary, and it was represented by a Gus Mus. He cared, reminded, as a cleric conveyed that. Iki pitulasan is really quiet, piye? (This is the anniversary of independence, how come it is lonely), I see," he said.

Ganjar said that the criticism conveyed by Gus Mus was a correction and evaluation of the government so that it would not be neglected in the future, he even said that the Rembang Regency Government had admitted its mistake in not installing the red and white flag in the square during the celebration of Indonesian Independence Day, even though it later installed it.

"Anyone who has participated, I thank you. This incident is to be a correction so that it does not happen in the future," said Ganjar.
