The Verdict Of The Corruption Case Has Permanent Legal Force, Nurdin Abdullah Now Occupies The Sukamiskin Prison

JAKARTA - Former Governor of South Sulawesi Nurdin Abdullah who was sentenced to 5 years in prison for bribery and gratification cases was executed at the Class I Sukamiskin Correctional Institution (Lapas) Bandung.

This execution was based on the decision of the Corruption Court at the Makassar District Court Number: 45/Pid.Sus-TPK/2021/PN.Mks dated November 29, 2021, which has permanent legal force.

"The convict will languish in the Sukamiskin Bandung Class I Prison to serve a five-year reduced prison sentence while in detention," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri told reporters, Thursday, December 16.

Furthermore, continued Ali, the former PDI-P politician was also required to pay a criminal fine with the condition that if the fine was not paid, it would be replaced with imprisonment for four months. It didn't stop there, Nurdin was also required to pay compensation of IDR 2.1 billion and 350 thousand Singapore dollars.

"With the provision that if it is not paid within 1 month after this decision has permanent legal force, then the property is confiscated to cover the loss to the state and if the property is not sufficient to pay the replacement money, it will be replaced with a prison sentence of 10 months," he said.

Besides Nurdin, the KPK also executed Edy Rahmat to the same prison. The former secretary of the South Sulawesi Public Works and Spatial Planning Service (PUTR) was executed based on the Corruption Court's decision at the Makassar District Court Number: 46/Pid.Sus-TPK/2021/PN. Mks November 29, 2021.

"The convict was sent to the Sukamiskin Bandung Class I Prison to serve a four-year prison sentence reduced while in detention," said Ali.

In addition to the corporal punishment, Edy was also sentenced to a fine of Rp. 200 million. "With the provision that if the fine is not paid, it will be replaced with a prison sentence of two months," he concluded.
