The Death Of The Village Head, South Manokwari Ransiki Residents Blocked Roads, Damaged Community Health Centers And Public Facilities
PAPUA - Land access between the regencies of Manokwari, South Manokwari and Teluk Bintuni in West Papua Province has been paralyzed since Thursday morning due to the blockade of residents of Ransiki District, South Manokwari.
The Head of Public Relations of the West Papua Police, Kombes Adam Erwindi, confirmed the blockade of the Trans-West Papua route. The trigger was allegedly due to the dissatisfaction of a group of residents over the death of a village head.
The situation in Mansel Regency has been handled by the local Resort Police and is still investigating the cause of the death of a village head.
"The Mansel Police are still investigating the cause of death, whether it was due to the vaccine or something else," said Adam Erwindi when contacted, Antara, Thursday, December 16.
The police hope that the residents of Ransiki, South Manokwari Regency, remain patient and give the police the opportunity to conduct an investigation. In addition to the road, the mob also damaged the Ransiki Health Center and a number of public facilities in the district capital of Mansel.
"Other communities should not be provoked into taking new legal actions, but leave the handling to the police," said Adam Erwindi.
As a result of the blockade, land transportation access across the Manokwari-Mansel-Bintuni Bay regencies is still being blocked.
