Sad News, 5 Migrant Workers From Lombok NTB Died In Accident At Tanjung Balau Beach, Malaysia
NTB - Five illegal Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) from East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) reportedly died in a marine accident on Tanjung Balau Beach, Johor Tinggi City, Malaysia, Wednesday, December 15 at around 05.00 local time.
"Based on data obtained from the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Johor Baru, five of our Indonesian migrant workers have died," said East Lombok Manpower and Transmigration Agency (Disnakertran) Supardi in Selong, Antara, Thursday, December 16.
The five people are Alwi, a resident of Mampe Village, Jerowaru District, Samsudin, a resident of Pemasah Village, Erowaru District, Dedy Suryadi, a resident of Anjani Village, Suralaga District, Yoan Eki Sudiatma, a resident of Kedongdong Daya Village, Pringgesela District and Gunawan, a resident of Lenek Village, District Remban Biak, East Lombok Regency.
"This is a temporary list that we can get," he said.
He said that in the shipwreck disaster there were as many as 50 Indonesian citizens who were going to become PMIs to Malaysia, but then in the middle of the sea the ship had an accident and sank. In that incident as many as 11 people were found dead, 14 people survived and 25 more people whose whereabouts are unknown.
"The SAR team is still continuing to search," he said.
He hoped that the victims would be found safely and the bodies of the victims could be returned to their families for burial. "Hopefully we can get the data soon so we can take further steps," said Supardi.
