Commentary On The Indonesia Vs Vietnam Match, PSSI Chairman: Proud To See The Players' Fighting Spirit
JAKARTA - General Chairperson (PSSI) Mochamad Iriawan also commented on the performance of the Indonesian national team against Vietnam in the 2020 AFF Cup Group B phase match. According to Iriawan, although the Garuda squad did not score, they performed exceptionally.
In the match which took place on Wednesday, December 15 at night WIB at Bishan Stadium, Singapore, the national team did not score a single goal. However, Shin Tae-yong's team was able to withstand the onslaught of Vietnam, which is the superior team.
The national team was even able to frustrate Park Hang-seo's troops because the match ended 0-0. Because he appeared with a strong defense, one of the national team players, namely Alfeandra Dewangga Santoso was also chosen to be the man of the match in this match.
Seeing how the national team struggles on the field, Iriawan, who watched the match with Menpora Zainudin Amali on the sidelines of his busy schedule to open the last 8 of Liga 2 at Pakansari Stadium, praised the performance of the Garuda squad.
"The performance of the players is extraordinary. Me and Menpora Zainudin Amali watched together on the sidelines of the last eight of Liga 2 at Pakansari Stadium," said PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan quoted from the PSSI official website.
Ketum PSSI did not mind the goalless draw in this match. Because according to him, the fighting spirit of the players has made him very proud.
“I am proud to see the fighting spirit of the players reach 2 x 45 minutes. They kept fighting until the last minute. Once again I am proud of them," said Iriawan.
Apart from the comments from the PSSI chairman, the match between the Indonesian and Vietnamese national teams made both teams take home one point each. Now Indonesia and Vietnam also both collect 7 points.
However, Indonesia has the right to lead the top of the standings because of its superior goal productivity from Vietnam. While in third position there is Malaysia which has 6 points.
With these results, the determination of the teams that qualify for the semifinals will be determined in the last match. On December 19, Indonesia is scheduled to face Malaysia, while Vietnam will face Cambodia.
