Mr. Ridwan Kamil Village Consultative Assembly Supported To Be Presidential Candidate 2024

BANDUNG - The Association of Members of the All-Indonesian Village Consultative Body (PABPDSI) of West Java (Jabar) supports West Java governor M Ridwan Kamil as a presidential candidate in the 2024 election.

Deputy Chairperson of PABPDSI Supendi said the reason his party encouraged Ridwan Kamil to become a presidential candidate started from the momentum of the appointment of Ridwan Kamil as the father of the Indonesian Village Consultative Body (BPD) at the BPD National Working Meeting at the Merdeka building, Bandung, last month.

"So at the National Working Meeting held yesterday, all participants from Indonesia appointed Mr. Governor Ridwan Kamil to be Mr. BPD Indonesia. Because they saw the West Java Governor's extraordinary performance with the innovations," Supendi said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 15.

He said at the National Working Meeting and the Anniversary of the Association of Indonesian Village Consultative Body Members at the Merdeka building, Bandung City, Thursday, November 25, almost all BPDs from all provinces in Indonesia wanted Ridwan Kamil to build villages in Indonesia, not just West Java.

According to him, PABPDSI and BPD from all over Indonesia at that time wanted Ridwan Kamil's mindset and ideas in developing villages to be applied throughout Indonesia. So, he said, this was the trigger for his party to encourage Ridwan Kamil to become a presidential candidate in the 2024 election.

"So we want to make Indonesia the Champion, not only West Java Champion. We pray for Mr. Ridwan Kamil to be able to move villages in Indonesia," said Supendi who is also the Daily Chair of the West Java PABPDSI.

Supendi said he agreed that in the next few days, the BPD in West Java as well as the PABDSI administrator would declare Ridwan Kamil a candidate for president of the Republic of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Wakasekjen PABPDSI Karno at first did not think of encouraging Ridwan Kamil to become a presidential candidate.

However, said Karno, the appointment of Ridwan Kamil as the father of the Indonesian BPD, inspired the BPD spread across various provinces in Indonesia to encourage him to become a presidential candidate.

"And we think Mr. Ridwan Kamil needs to change Indonesia for the better, starting from the village. We encourage how to push Indonesia to become champion under the command of Ridwan Kamil. The benefits must be felt throughout Indonesia," he said.

For example, several programs in West Java are for village development, starting with Millennial Farmers, One Village One Product, and Digital Village. BPD in other provinces, he said, wanted innovative programs like this.

"Therefore, we agree that most of the BPDs in Indonesia want to encourage the Indonesian Champion movement. We determine the direction, encouraging him to become President of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.
