The Special Edition Money Commemorating Independence Was Printed 75 Million Pieces

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance and Bank Indonesia issued special edition banknotes to commemorate 75 years of Indonesian independence. The money is not intended for wide circulation.

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani explained that the 75th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia (UPK 75) is money issued as a form of gratitude for the achievement of this nation. Therefore, this money printing is not like new money which is intended for circulation freely and is available in the community.

Sri Mulyani said, UPK 75 was also not additional liquidity for financing needs or economic implementation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"As a form of our gratitude for the gift of independence and achievements during Indonesia's 75 years of independence, the issuance of a special edition of rupiah in commemoration of independence coincides with August 17. This is intended as a form of our momentum to be grateful for Indonesia's independence, even though we are currently facing the COVID-19 outbreak, "he said, during the virtual inauguration of the UPK 75 expenditure, Monday, August 17.

The state treasurer said this special edition currency was in the form of banknotes with a nominal denomination of IDR 75,000. Sri said, UPK 75 was printed limited.

"The number of printed sheets was 75 million which were signed by the Minister of Finance as the government representative and the Governor of Bank Indonesia," he explained.

Sri said the planning and determination of the amount of rupiah to be printed, especially for the independence commemoration money or UPK 75, had gone through good coordination with various parties, Bank Indonesia, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of the State Secretariat, and the hero heirs.

"The 75th anniversary of Indonesia's independence is also intended to strengthen all of us in maintaining the diversity and unity of the Republic of Indonesia. It also aims to increase and enhance our enthusiasm in welcoming and achieving the goals of independence," he said.
