One Resident In Sikka NTT Dies After Fainting While Escaped After Earthquake Shock

KUPANG - A man in Kabor Village, Alok District, Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, with the initials EV died allegedly due to panic during the 7.4 magnitude earthquake in the Flores Sea which was also felt in Sikka Regency.

The victim's family named Ida said when he said the victim was already at the funeral home to be prayed for by the family before being buried.

"Currently, the family is gathering at the funeral home, and his departure was probably due to panic," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 15.

Ida said that EV's death began when the victim and his children were waiting for his wife to arrive at school.

While waiting for his wife to arrive, the earthquake occurred, the victim and their children panicked. Moreover, in the midst of panic he saw many residents running out of their homes to save themselves.

"The victim at the time of the incident remained at home while waiting for his wife. His children had left the house to save themselves," he added.

Not long after, the victim's wife arrived, and the victim immediately rode a motorbike to Nelle, an area that was safe from the tsunami.

"But about 20 meters away, the victim then stopped the vehicle, then suddenly fell unconscious, and was rushed to the Kewapante Hospital," he said.

He had asked for help from other residents, but did not heed because everyone panicked and ran to save themselves.

"But then there was a car that we arrested and finally wanted to take the victim to the TC Hillers Hospital," he added.

However, he said, when they arrived at TC Hillers, all the nurses and patients came out of the hospital, so it was immediately decided to be rushed to the Kewapante Hospital. In the afternoon the victim is planned to be buried soon.
