Students And Teachers At OKU Sumsel Are Prohibited From Leaving The Area During The Christmas And New Year Holidays
SUMSEL - The Education Office of Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra (Sumsel) issued a ban for students and teachers to leave the area during the Christmas and New Year's 2022 holidays. This is to prevent the occurrence of new COVID clusters.
The Head of the OKU Education Office, Teddy Meilwansyah, said the local government had issued a circular regarding the handling of the COVID-19 outbreak during the Christmas and New Year's 2022 holidays.
In the circular which refers to the instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 66 of 2021, the government appeals to students and teaching staff in the region not to travel outside the region during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
"During the odd semester holiday period from December 20, 2021 to January 1, 2022, students and teachers are not allowed to leave the area to anticipate the transmission of the corona virus in OKU Regency," he said in Baturaja, Antara, Wednesday, December 15.
In the circular letter, his party also asked parents to encourage their children to participate in the vaccination program to achieve the 100% target until the end of December 2021.
"If it reaches 100 percent, hopefully in early 2022, OKU Regency will be able to carry out face-to-face schools in full," he said.
Based on data from the OKU District Health Office as of December 14, 2021, the vaccination coverage for people aged 12-17 years reached 85 percent or 31,141 people had been vaccinated from 36,926 targets.
"Most of these youths are junior and senior high school students. For junior high school students, the realization has reached 96 percent of the 18,000 targets," said OKU Health Service Acting Head Andi Prapto added.
