Translucent 81-90 Percent, COVID Vaccination In Merauke Is The Highest Recorded In Papua, Lowest Yapen And Asmat

PAPUA - The Papua Provincial Health Office said the coverage of the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination in Merauke Regency had reached 81-90 percent based on data as of December 13, 2021.

Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the Papua Provincial Health Office, Aaron Rumainum, said that Merauke is the only district with the highest vaccination coverage compared to other areas in Cenderawasih Earth.

"Jayapura City covers 71-80 percent, followed by Keerom, Mimika, Jayapura and Boven Digoel," he said in Jayapura, Antara, Tuesday, December 14.

According to Aaron, Biak Numfor and Nabire have only reached 41-50 percent coverage of the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination. "Meanwhile the coverage of 31-40 percent is occupied by Mappi and Sarmi Regencies," he said.

He explained that while in other districts, vaccination coverage, especially for the first dose, was still relatively small. "For example, Asmat, Supiori and Yapen Islands have only reached 21-30 percent," he said.

He added that for Mamberamo Raya, Jayawijaya and Waropen, it only reached 11-20 percent, while for the Bintang Mountains it was around 6-10 percent.
