West Java Chief Of Staff Descends Directly As Public Prosecutor For Rape Case Of 12 Santriwati
BANDUNG - The head of the West Java (Jabar) High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) Asep N Mulyana intervened to become a public prosecutor (JPU) for an immoral case committed by the defendant initials HW (36) to 12 female students.
"God willing, I will go directly to court later to guard this case," said Asep at the West Java Prosecutor's Office, Bandung, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 14.
According to Asep, his party is paying serious attention to this case by speeding up the trial process. In a week, he said, the trial of the HW case was held twice.
"It's different from other cases which only happen once a week," said Asep.
Asep said so far the trial process was still in the proving stage by presenting witnesses in the case.
The rape case against 12 female students in Bandung has also received serious attention from President Joko Widodo, said Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Bintang Puspayoga.
Bintang said President Jokowi asked the state to be present to take firm action against Islamic boarding school teachers due to his dishonorable actions.
"We have to oversee it thoroughly, especially in meeting the basic needs of children," said Bintang.
Previously, the Bandung District Court had held a trial against the immoral case against 12 female students carried out by the defendant with the initials HW (36).
HW was charged with raping 12 female students by force and causing them to become pregnant. The action was carried out in a number of places, namely at his two Islamic boarding schools, and in a number of inns such as hotels and apartments
