KKB Makes Another Action, Shoots Contact With Officers And Burns SMPN In Bintang Mountains Regency

JAYAPURA - A gun battle between the Pamrahwan Task Force Battalion A Regiment III Pioneers and the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) occurred in Serambakon District, Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua, Tuesday, December 24 at around 08.30 WIT.

In addition to gunfights, the Papuan KKB also burned school buildings. This was conveyed by the Head of the Nemangkawi Public Relations Task Force, Kombes Ahmad Musthofa Kamal.

Kamal said the incident began when the Pamrahwan Task Force personnel of Battalion A Regiment III of the Pioneers heard three gunshots.

"Hearing the shots, the personnel monitored where the shots were coming from," said Kamal in an official statement, Tuesday, December 14.

Then, at 09.00 WIT, the Pamrahwan Task Force personnel saw a collection of billowing smoke coming from the Serambakon State Junior High School building which was set ablaze by the Armed Criminal Group.

At 09.30 WIT, several more shots were heard which led to the Pamrahwan Task Force Post from a distance of 700 m so that the Pamrahwan Task Force personnel fired back and there was a firefight.

"The steps taken by the police include pursuing the armed criminal group," he said. Kamal confirmed that the building that was burned was the Serambkon State Junior High School. "There were no casualties from this incident. The TNI-Polri security forces continue to guard at vulnerable points and entrances to the Armed Criminal Group," he said.

It should be noted that one day earlier, KKB had also shot at the Brimob Post, Serambakon District.
