West Lombok Evaluation Of Home Developers Not Paying Attention To Potential Floods
LOMBOK BARAT - The Regent of West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, H Fauzan Khalid, stated that he would evaluate the development companies that carry out housing construction without paying attention to the potential for flooding.
"That's what we will evaluate. We will monitor whether the recommendation with a record that it is permissible to build is implemented or not by the developer," Fauzan said, quoted by Antara, Monday, December 13.
However, the supervision of housing development by the developer does not mean that the housing development program must be stopped. Because, many people still need a place to live.
His party will tighten supervision of housing development companies so that they can actually implement recommendations to build housing with a note that there must be an effort to anticipate potential flooding.
"So we have to look not only from one side, we also have to look at the volume of rain, then we have to look at the community settlements, how the spatial layout is," said Fauzan.
Fauzan also asked developer companies whose houses were flooded to immediately build a water-retaining embankment, so that the houses already occupied by residents would not be flooded so that they almost reached the roof.
"We will call the developer because the housing complex must be made of embankments, there are but not high," he also said.
Floods hit Batulayar, Gunung Sari, Lingsar, and Sekotong sub-districts, West Lombok regency, on Monday, December 6. A number of housing complexes built by development companies were submerged in water as high as two meters, such as the Bhayangkara Residence, in Ranjok, Gunung Sari District.
