President Jokowi Explains The G20 Priority Agenda To The US Foreign Minister
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conveyed a number of priority agendas for Indonesia's G20 presidency in 2020 when he met with the United States (US) Foreign Minister Anthony J Blinken.
"When receiving the honorary visit of Foreign Minister Blinken, the President conveyed an explanation of Indonesia's G20 presidency priorities. Indonesia hopes that the United States can become one of the partners in the economic field when the President talks about bilateral relations, including in the investment sector," said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in her statement after accompanying President Jokowi during the meeting, at the President's office in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Monday, December 13.
The meeting between President Jokowi and US Foreign Minister Anthony J Blinken took place at the Merdeka Palace.
"Indonesia also hopes to be part of the global supply chain for the health sector and expresses its appreciation for the support for the United States vaccine and other supports given to Indonesia during this pandemic," said Foreign Minister Retno.
Retno explained that the meeting which took place at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, was warm and open.
"The discussions were very warm and open, and the United States' commitment to strengthen its partnership with Indonesia, including in the economic sector, was evident," said Foreign Minister Retno.
Foreign Minister Blinken was also said to have expressed his commitment to partnering with Indonesia in the field of infrastructure investment
"As is known yesterday, a meeting of the G7 and ASEAN foreign ministers was held. This is the first meeting of the G7 and ASEAN foreign ministers. One of the discussions was about the commitment of the G7 countries to increase investment in infrastructure, including through the mobilization of private participation. sectors' from them," said Foreign Minister Retno.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Retno said the US also welcomed Indonesia's desire to participate in the supply chain in the health sector.
"Foreign Minister Blinken also expressed his support for the chairmanship of the G20 Indonesia," said Foreign Minister Retno.
At the end of her statement, Foreign Minister Retno said the United States was a good partner of Indonesia. Indonesia will continue to develop strategic trust with all countries and all Indonesian partners.
