Gibran Ensures Solo Is Ready To Succeed In COVID Vaccine For Children Under 12 Years, Targets 2,000-4,000 Doses A Day
SOLO - The Solo City Government is ready to vaccinate against COVID-19 for children under the age of 12 following the issuance of a central government policy.
"There was good news earlier that children aged 6-11 years can be vaccinated," said Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka in Solo, Central Java, as reported by Antara, Monday, December 13.
Although not yet sure when vaccination in the area will start, Gibran said vaccination will be carried out as soon as possible. "It can be vaccinated immediately, this has received permission," he said.
In addition, his party is also preparing booster vaccinations or boosters for the general public. Regarding this matter, he said, there had been instructions from the central government.
Meanwhile, Solo City Regional Secretary Ahyani said, so far the Solo City Government has prepared its implementation. However, his party is still waiting for the readiness of the vaccine. "It's just waiting for the goods," he said.
For children aged 6-11 years, the City Government has recorded the number of prospective vaccine recipients, which is about 50,000 children. According to him, this number includes elementary and junior high school students from outside the city who attend school in Solo.
Regarding the type of vaccine that will be given to this age group, he could not be sure.
"We have just prepared the facilities and infrastructure. If we have the goods, we are ready for 2,000-4,000 doses a day," he said.
