JAMBI - Jambi Police arrested six members of an illegal gold trading network. It turned out that one of the perpetrators was a police officer who served in the Bengkulu Police. The total proceeds of the crime confiscated from the perpetrators were in the form of Rp1.6 billion in cash and three kilograms of gold bullion.
The Jambi Police's Special Criminal Investigation Director, Kombes Sigit Dany Setiyono, said that the disclosure of the illegal gold trading network had been carried out since the end of November 2021.
The police initially arrested two perpetrators with the initials I and M on November 26, 2021, who brought gold from gold mining without a permit (crate) to be sold outside Jambi.
After that, the police arrested a person with the initials M who is a police officer with the rank of Bripka. M is in charge of guarding the delivery of gold from the chest to be sold out of Jambi.
"For once to secure the delivery, this police officer is paid Rp. 2 million," Sigit told media in Jambi, Antara, Monday, December 13.
From the results of the development of I and M's arrests, members of the Jambi Police Ditreskrimsus then arrested D in Sarolangun Regency. Then arrested again H in Bengkulu, I in Jakarta, and finally A in West Sumatra.
"These actors have different roles. Some are collectors of gold from coffins in Jambi, storage and processing, to intermediaries with investors," he said accompanied by the Head of Sub-Directorate of Indagsi Ditreskrimsus Jambi Police, AKBP Wahyu Bram.
Sigit said his party will continue to develop this case to completion and uncover this network from upstream to downstream. The results of the investigation by the Investigation Team of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Jambi Police secured evidence in the form of IDR 1.6 billion in cash from the results of the disclosure of the illegal gold trade case. This money is not the result of the sale of gold, but the capital of the perpetrators.
He said the Rp1.6 billion money was secured from the perpetrator with the initials D who was arrested in Sarolangun Regency, Jambi.
The police also seized evidence in the form of six gold bars weighing 3 kg in which one bar weighs approximately 500 grams and the information is that the gold obtained by the perpetrators after being processed will be marketed abroad.
