The Art Of Craving BackingSoda In Dewi Khayal

JAKATA - Vocal harmonization is undeniably one of the uniqueness that BackingSoda offers. Compiled by Ghita Rahmah Meirani, Miranty P. Wardhani, Wulandari Natlia, and Ayusya, we are again treated to a melancholy that has not been found in many other music groups. This is fully illustrated in their new single entitled Dewi Khayal.

The expertise of each member in creating their own music is also worth looking at. Led by guitarists Hendi Yusup and Putri Raya, BackingSoda often composed songs which were then greeted by the singers to enrich the tone of each lyric.

Born from a theater musician background, to be precise in the Pagupon Theater at the UI Faculty of Cultural Sciences, BackingSoda is accustomed to accompanying performances. Converts the script into lyrics. Structuring together to package the flavor of each scene. Until came the desire to start his own journey.

That's why all their songs feel poetic and nuanced. Anyone can crave. Even willing to drown in it. But not everyone dares to stand in the middle of it: the point between drifting and sanity. Between a sense of inadequacy and sincerity.

Goddess Khayal is here to be in the middle. Instead, creating harmony to celebrate the art of longing itself. Makes room large enough to worship, but not deep enough to fall.

Gentle and meditative strains throughout the song. Rich fillings - guitar, piano, to saxophone - exist to complement not dominate each other. As well as vocal harmonization that is solemn as well as making us complacent.

The Goddess of Imagination might be the way to crave it. Because drowning need not be dark. Because you don't need to get carried away frantically. Just stand in the middle, enjoy, and celebrate softly.
