It's Been 2 Days Since The Fisherman Disappeared In Pasarwajo Butan And Has Not Been Found

KENDARI - The joint Basarnas team has yet to find a Gulf Peace fisherman Safiru alias Galpis (30) who was reported missing while fishing since 8 December in the waters of Pasarwajo Bay, Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi.

Head of Basarnas Kendari Aris Sofingi said that his party had carried out a search operation until the third day involving joint personnel from the Baubau SAR Post, Babinsa Pasarwajo, local communities and the families of the victims.

"The search started at 06.00 WITA, but until 17.30 WITA the joint SAR team temporarily suspended search operations with no results. The search will continue tomorrow morning," he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, December 10.

Aris explained that the victim search operation was carried out on the third day by dividing into four teams, where Team 1 carried out a search from the coast to the accident site (LKK) with a sweeping area of 1.43 square nautical miles.

Next, Team 2 carried out a sweep from the coast to the northern part of the LKK with a sweeping area of 2.68 square nautical miles. Team 3 conducted a sweep from the northern coast of LKK with a sweeping area of 3.37 square nautical miles.

"Then Team 4 conducted a search of the eastern part of the LKK with a sweeping area of 2.40 square nautical miles," he explained.

In addition to conducting sweeps around the LKK, the joint SAR team also carried out monitoring along the coast at places where victims were suspected of being present.

The victim, who made a living as a fisherman, on Wednesday, December 8 at around 10:00 WITA went fishing around the waters of Pasarwajo Bay with his friend using a longboat made of fiber.

While fishing, the longboat used by the victim was hit by a wave and overturned. The victim Pardin survived and Galpis was searched by the Basarnas team together with the local community.

Based on the report, at 15.30 WITA the Baubau SAR Post Rescue Team departed for the accident site using a rescue car unit carrying a rubber boat and other safety support equipment to provide SAR assistance.
