Seizure Of 1,500 Liters Of 'Sopi' Alcohol At The Port, The Criminal Investigation Unit Of The Ambon Island Police Gives Guidance To 3 Owners

AMBON - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Ambon Island Police and Lease Islands confiscated 1,500 liters of traditional liquor (alcohol) or sopi from three owners of goods at the Tulehu Speedboat Port, Salahutu District (Ambon Island), Central Maluku Regency.

"This evidence was confiscated when the police carried out the Antique Operation Siwalima 2021 led by the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Polresta, AKP Djufri Djawa," said Head of the Subsection of Public Relations of the local Police, Ipda I. Leatemia in Ambon, Antara, Friday, December 1-0.

A total of 1,500 liters of sopi were transported by speedboat from the people's port of Tihulale Village, Kairatu Subdistrict (Seram Island) Central Maluku Regency.

When docked at the port of Tulehu, the Narcotics Head along with 17 members immediately checked the luggage of the passengers and found the alcohol that was delivered to the islands without having an official permit.

The seized evidence belonged to three residents, including Mery (49), Salawane (50), and Minggus (27).

"They were immediately scouted by the police and there was no record of repeating the act of bringing alcohol illegally to Ambon Island," said Leatemia.

The fate of these three illegal alcohol suppliers is fortunate because they have not been brought to justice like the two perpetrators of similar alcohol carriers from Southwest Maluku Regency some time ago.

"The police will continue to carry out the Antik Siwalima 2021 operation towards the end of the year on every land and sea transportation to prevent the entry of alcohol as well as drugs and other dangerous goods," explained Leatemia.

After providing guidance to the perpetrators of the alcohol supplier, the police then took the evidence to the Ambon Island Police Headquarters.
