Thanks To Fishermen's Reports, Napoleon 054 Belonging To PSDKP Kupang Successfully Ambushes Fishing Boats Using Trawl
KUPANG - The Marine and Fisheries Resources Monitoring Station (PSDKP) of Kupang detained a fishing boat KM Kupang Jaya 1 which used a prohibited fishing gear, trawler, to catch fish in the waters of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
"KM Kupang Jaya 1 is known to be carrying a prohibited fishing gear type trawl and has just finished catching fish," said Head of Kupang PSDKP Station Mubarak when contacted in Kupang, Antara, Friday, December 10.
He explained the action of stopping, examining and detaining (henrikhan) the boat on Thursday, December 9 evening when he received a report from the fishermen. PSDKP Kupang officers were immediately dispatched with the Napoleonic Monitoring Ship 054 to the location of the incident in the waters of Teluk Kupang and took legal action.
"Furthermore, the ship is adhocked to the Tenau Fishing Port for further inspection," he said.
Mubarak explained that the ship with a capacity of 30 gross tonnage operated by 9 crew members operated with a permit document issued by the NTT Provincial Government. Currently, the crew is undergoing an examination by the Kupang PSDKP regarding the illegal fishing practice.
"We are examining the crew of this ship and also conducting a case," said Mubarak.
