PAPUA - A joint team from the Jayapura City Police arrested the perpetrator of the theft of a pistol and ammunition belonging to a member of the National Police who served at the Yapen Police Station, Papua.
"The perpetrator with the initials WR (20) who stole in Serui was arrested last Thursday at around 16.00 WIT in the Tasangkapura area, Jayapura City," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Jayapura City Police, AKP Handry Bawilling in Jayapura, Antara, Friday, December 10.
The suspect admitted that the gun was stolen in August in Serui when the victim had an accident and the suspect immediately took and ran away with the gun complete with ammunition.
After carrying out the action, WR fled to Jayapura using the PT. Pelni and plans to exchange the firearm for marijuana.
However, until he was caught, the transaction to exchange guns for marijuana had not been realized. Bawiling added that previously his party received a report from the Yapen Police regarding the gun theft perpetrator who fled to Jayapura along with the evidence.
From the characteristics given by the members, they carried out an investigation until finally WR was arrested and is currently still being held at the Jayapura City Police Headquarters.
"WR will be immediately taken by investigators from the Yapen Police because the case is being processed there," said AKP Hendry Bawilling.
