Jokowi: Do Not Have The Most Religious, Most Pancasila

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) touched on democracy which guarantees freedom. However, Jokowi reminded that freedom must be accounted for, not in fact creating divisions.

"Democracy indeed guarantees freedom, but freedom that respects the rights of others. Do not feel the most self-righteous, and others should be blamed. Do not feel the most religious yourself, do not feel the most Pancasila itself. Everyone feels the most correct and enforces. intention, that's usually not true, ”said Jokowi in his state speech at the MPR Annual Session, Friday, August 14.

Jokowi said that the Indonesian people should be grateful for upholding togetherness and unity. This is very necessary, especially in the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his speech, Jokowi discussed a lot about the impact of COVID-19. In this condition, Jokowi said Indonesia needed a change in working patterns.

"We have to carry out fundamental reforms in the way we work. Our preparedness and speed are tested," he said.

According to Jokowi, this mindset and work ethic must be changed. Handling a pandemic must be done with flexibility, speed and accuracy.

“Don't waste the lessons the crisis gives you. Don't let a crisis produce a setback. It is precisely the momentum of this crisis that we must plow to make a leap of progress, "he said.

In his speech, Jokowi explained that as many as 215 countries are facing difficult times hit by the COVID 19 pandemic. In the WHO's record, up to August 13, there were more than 20 million cases in the world with 737 thousand deaths in the world.

According to him, the economic crisis was also the worst in history. In the first quarter of 2020, the country's economic growth called Jokowi was still plus 2.97 percent, but in the second quarter, economic growth was minus 5.32 percent.

"This is the time for us to improve fundamentally, carry out major transformations, carry out big strategies. Big strategies in the fields of economy, law, government, socio-culture including health and education. It's time for us to plow the momentum of the crisis to take a big leap," said Jokowi.
