Bobby Nasution Launches First Electric Vehicle Charging Station In North Sumatra
MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution launched the first Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) in North Sumatra to minimize air pollution in this area.
"This is a new thing, first in North Sumatra and Medan City there is an SPKLU. Of course this is a new breakthrough in Medan as the third largest city in Indonesia," explained Bobby Nasution in Medan, North Sumatra, quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 9.
He emphasized this after launching a SPKLU unit in the yard of the PT PLN (Persero) UP3 Medan City Office accompanied by the General Manager of the North Sumatran PLN Regional Main Unit (UIW) Pandapotan Manurung and several related officials.
Bobby Nasution said that it is appropriate for Medan City to follow the times, one of which is how to make a city that is advanced but still protects the environment.
"We are following the progress of the times, we even have to excel. But the environmental impact must be maintained. Our daily activities must reduce the environmental impact, one of which is switching to electric power," said Bobby.
"It is good for the environment because there are no exhaust emissions, and the fuel can be renewed. So this electric car or vehicle has many positive impacts," he said.
The mayor of Medan also supports that more SPKLU points be built in this area. According to information from PLN, one SPKLU point will also be established at Medan City Hall.
"Want to be installed at the Medan Mayor's Office, he said, this seems to be a bait for us to use electric vehicles. Developments in today's era can protect the environment by using electric vehicles more widely," said Bobby Nasution.
Meanwhile, General Manager of PLN UIW Sumur, Pandapotan Manurung, explained that this SPKLU is an effort to support government programs related to accelerating battery-based electric vehicles.
"We will soon operate several SPKLU in other strategic locations. PLN opens business opportunities for the provision of SPKLU, because we have provided the scheme," said Pandapotan.
