Hotels And Tourist Attractions In DIY Remember Sultan Hamengku Buwono X's Message: Close, Reset If Crowds Happen

YOGYAKARTA - The Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X asked regional heads and tourism managers in regencies and cities to anticipate the emergence of crowds during the year-end holidays.

"We ask for good reminders in the field such as the tourism sector, hotels, shops, how to carry out their duties properly. But also stop activities if crowds occur," said the Sultan at the Kepatihan Complex, Yogyakarta, Antara, Thursday, December 9.

To prevent crowds, according to Sultan, tourism industry managers can make arrangements by temporarily stopping access to visits when the quota limit has been reached.

"I beg you to close, exit first and then arrange to enter again. This arrangement is something that is important for us to guard," he said.

Through the Christmas and New Year Preparation Coordination Meeting which was attended by all Forkopimda and DIY OPD, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X asked all his staff to work hard so that the year-end holidays do not trigger a spike in COVID-19 cases.

"Don't let what the President of the Republic of Indonesia fears, the Christmas and New Year holidays actually increase the number of COVID-19 cases," said the Sultan.

Although the Central Government canceled the implementation of PPKM level 3, the King of the Yogyakarta Palace asked his citizens to remain disciplined in implementing health protocols. According to Sultan, the implementation of PPKM in DIY will adjust the results of the assessment from the center.

"I hope that the community will also be active in carrying out health protocols," he said.

Regarding the operation of the tourism industry during the year-end holidays, the Sultan said that later it would be regulated by each association that oversees it.
