Surprise! There Are 96 Thousand Weddings In Temanggung That Are Not Recorded
JAKARTA - Around 96,000 marriages in Temanggung Regency, Central Java, are not registered by the marriage institution. Though there are many impacts that will occur from this situation.
"Marriages are registered and unregistered. Marriages are registered with the marriage institution, those who are Muslim at the KUA are then registered with us and non-Muslims through the courts are also registered with us," said the Head of the Population and Civil Registration Office of Temanggung Regency, Bagus Pinuntun, Thursday, December 9. .
He conveyed this after the focus group discussion (FGD) on the implementation and handling of marriages that had not been recorded on the family card (KK).
Good to explain that those who are not registered may not have marriage documents, secondly because the documents are lost and they don't want to find them, thirdly they are really not registered, such as unregistered marriages or marriages according to their respective beliefs.
"By law, all of them are recognized. This number is still a collaborative figure, this is the subject of discussion, so this figure must be explored again so that later those unregistered marriages can be administratively resolved," he said.
He mentioned that the Temanggung Regency Disdukcapil issued more than 380,000 marriage documents.
"A total of 96,000 records have not been recorded. When the person concerned does not have a document regarding automatic marriage, we do not register the marriage," he said.
Good conveys that unregistered marriages are marriages that have no legal binding, no legal impact, no legal protection for children who are born.
"Unregistered marriages eventually cause problems, there are many divorces, divorce when you are about to remarry is also difficult, in the end you have to isbat marriage and divorce isbat. There is no administrative impact, because we recorded according to the facts," he said.
The Regent of Temanggung M. Al Khadziq in his speech said that in recent times there has been warm discussion about the inclusion of "unregistered marriages" on family cards for married couples who are married/marriage religiously by the Department of Population and Civil Registration.
He said that couples who do not or have not registered their marriages can still get a family card, as is the case with marriages that are officially registered at the Ministry of Religion and the Department of Population and Civil Registration for non-Muslim marriages.
"Substantially, the policy was taken in order to provide protection for the rights of citizens, especially for children born to unregistered marriage partners, so that the child's biological father is clearly stated," he said.
However, he said, on the other hand, this has the potential to conflict with norms and the existence of other institutions. Although unregistered marital status does not constitute the legitimacy of an unregistered marriage, it can have an impact that is not simple. One of them is feared that it can foster unregistered marriages in society.
