Persib Defeated, Robert Alberts Disappointed
JAKARTA - Persib Bandung lost again during week 16 of Liga 1 2021. Facing Persebaya Surabaya, Robert Rene Alberts' team were massacred 3-0.
The bitter result that Maung Bandung experienced again made Alberts react. The coach admitted that he was disappointed with this crushing defeat.
"For the first time in this series, we got a very disappointing result," Alberts said as quoted from Persib Bandung's official website, Thursday, December 9.
"If you look at the first half, we should have been able to excel because we could have created a lot of chances," he said.
In the match at Maguwoharjo Stadium, Sleman, Persib was actually able to control the overall game. This was seen in the first round when Maung Bandung was able to withstand Persebaya's attack.
Unfortunately, in the second half, Persebaya was attacked by Persebaya. Unmitigated, Bajul Ijo's troops actually managed to score three goals against the goal that was guarded by Deden Nasir through a Taisei Marukawa brace and a Bruno goal.
Seeing how his team was beaten by Persebaya in the final minutes, Alberts revealed that his back line was not strong enough to block Marukawa's movement.
"There were mistakes at the back and they (Persebaya) could punish him (scoring goals). But after that we tried to put more pressure," he continued.
Success in making his team a mess, Alberts did not hesitate to admit the effectiveness of Aji Santoso's potion. The deadly counterattack made things worse and finally Persib fell to their knees.
"But they can always counter-attack. As a result they can win the game and score three goals. So this is really a disappointing result," regrets Robert.
For the defeat in the match against Persebya, Persib had to lose three points. In the ranks of the 2021 Liga 1 standings, Persib is also in danger of being shifted by Arema FC, which will only undergo its 16th week tomorrow against Borneo FC.
