Dozens Of Veterinarians Check The Health Of Livestock Victims Of The Mount Semeru Eruption, Some Have Burns
JAKARTA - The eruption of Mount Semeru not only caused casualties. Nor are the buildings destroyed. But don't forget the fate of the livestock that were also victims of the Semeru eruption.
To check their health condition, dozens of veterinarians from the Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI) 7 East Java examined livestock that were victims affected by the Mount Semeru hot cloud (APG) in Lumajang Regency.
"We provide health services to livestock belonging to victims affected by the Mount Semeru APG on a door-to-door basis and this activity has been going on since yesterday," said PDHI East Java 7 head drh Puput Rijal in Lumajang, Thursday, December 9.
They came to provide assistance as well as provide health services such as examination and treatment of animals, as well as giving vitamins.
"The service to livestock this time involves 31 veterinarians in Lumajang and in Jember with the intended target being several livestock animals in Sukosari Hamlet and Kebonagung Hamlet, Sumberwuluh Village, Candipuro District," he said.
He said his party was collaborating with the Lumajang Agriculture Service, especially the Livestock Sector, to provide livestock health services, so if for example there were affected residents who had livestock come and report we would follow up because the post is near the Sumberwuluh Village Office.
"The Semeru disaster was clearly very influential, but thank God our findings in the field were not that bad. Indeed, there were animals that suffered burns, but generally the symptoms were mild, namely respiratory problems and so on," he said.
In addition, the Lumajang Agricultural Service Post also provides services for livestock, also provides medicines, vitamins, free animal feed for residents who need it in the form of fresh silage animal feed or grass feed that is chopped and fermented with a total of 64 tons of distributed feed.
"We thank the donors who have given their mandate and most of their donations are for the preparation of animal feed," he said.
According to him, the command post is established until the emergency response period is over, so that his party will calculate the need for animal feed for daily availability.
