534 Kilograms Of Dried Cannabis Seized At West Jakarta Police, 9 People Become Suspects

JAKARTA - The distribution of hundreds of kilograms of dried marijuana was successfully thwarted by the West Jakarta Metro Police. The officers managed to secure the goods after the arrest of a cross-Sumatra drug dealer. After going through the process of examination and development, officers managed to arrest nine people in this case.

West Jakarta Police Chief Kombes Ady Wibowo said, on November 17, 2021, on the Trans Sumatra Highway, Mandailing Natal, North Sumatra, officers thwarted the shipment of marijuana in large quantities.

"We found 20 sacks of marijuana weighing up to 534 kilograms," Ady told reporters at the West Jakarta Police, Wednesday, December 8.

Nine people were named as suspects. They are S (45), N (31), SP (56), M (56), and K (51), AA (26), SD (45), FRN (37), and DM (40).

"They have different roles, four couriers, two controllers in Mandailing Natal, three porters or farmers who bring crops to the road," said Kombes Ady.

Ady also explained that hundreds of kilograms of marijuana would be sent to Sumatra and Java, especially Jabodetabek, to supply the New Year's party.

"For New Year's supply, there may be requests for the new year. We managed to thwart it in the upstream location," he concluded.

The suspects are threatened with snaring Article 114 paragraph 2, Article 111 paragraph 2 junto Article 132 paragraph 1, Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a minimum prison sentence of 6 years and a maximum of 20 years.
