Case Of Burning Men Alive In Langkat, North Sumatra Revealed, Land Affairs Triggered

MEDAN - The Binjai Police Criminal Investigation Unit together with Sub-Directorate III/Jatanras Ditreskrimum North Sumatra Police managed to uncover a sadistic murder case by burning the victim alive.

North Sumatra Police Criminal Investigation Director, Kombes Tatan Dirsan Atmaja explained, in the disclosure, the police arrested 8 perpetrators. The suspects are PS (55), ISS (42), FS (37). LS alias Ucok Kitik (26), ABS (33), SS (25), EAS (25) MAS (39).

The incident occurred in Huta Dry Hamlet, Belinteng Village, Sei Bingai District, Langkat Regency on December 2.

"The perpetrators were 8 people and 1 family. This is a sadistic murder that was planned," said Kombes Tatan at the North Sumatra Police Headquarters, Medan, Wednesday, December 8.

Kombes Tatan said the murder committed by one family was due to claiming land guarded by the victim, Darwin Sitepu (36).

The victim was guarding the land because he worked for a person with the initials A who also claimed to be the owner of the land on the basis of a SK Camat. Meanwhile, the suspect claimed the land belonged to their grandmother.

"The suspects claim to be the heirs of the land, while the victim works to guard the land," said Kombes Tatan.

Because the victim did not want to move from the land, the suspects planned to kill the victim. They burned the victim with gasoline that had been prepared.

Asked about the status of the land, he explained, the land is a limited production forest (HPT). This means that both parties are not legal owners.

While the alleged sadistic murder was masterminded by mass organizations, Kombes Tatan denied it.

"The status of the HPT land. Regarding the control and SK Camat, will be investigated further," concluded Tatan.

Meanwhile, the Binjai Police Chief, AKBP Ferio Sano Ginting said the suspects were desperate to burn the victim because they were suspected of having supernatural powers and immunity. In fact, before killing the victim, the suspects first went to their grandmother's grave.

"If the victim does not leave the land, they kill him. The victim is burned because of the issue of supernatural powers and does not work with sharp weapons, then he is burned," said AKBP Ferio.

For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 340 subsidiary Article 338 concerning premeditated murder with the threat of death penalty.
