Unsri Lecturer Suspect Of Student Harassment Deactivated From Head Of Study Program
PALEMBANG - A lecturer at the Faculty of Economics at Sriwijaya University (Unsri) in Palembang City, South Sumatra, the suspect of sexual harassment to female students has been disabled from his position as head of the study program (Kaprodi).
"Our client has been temporarily disabled as the head of the study program (study program) by his leadership, namely from the dean and the rector's decree, since yesterday, Tuesday (7/12)," said Ghandi Arius, a legal adviser to the lecturer who became the suspect. December.
He explained that the university removed his client from his position in order to concentrate on undergoing legal proceedings regarding sexual harassment cases.
Gandhi also stated that the allegations of sexual harassment submitted to his client were purely his client's personal problems.
"The name of the Unsri agency is not too closely linked in this case because this is a personal matter, not an agency," he said.
"We believe neutral police are in the middle of this problem because they are state police, not people police," he said.
Meanwhile, the Communication Forum for Student Organizations of the Faculty of Economics, Unsri, confirmed the information regarding the deactivation of a lecturer suspected of sexual harassment from his position as head of the study program.
"The dean conveyed that it had been decided in the FE (Faculty of Economics) leadership meeting which was held before the hearing was held," said Chairman of the KM Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Economics Farrell Farhan referring to an audience at the Student Organization Communication Forum of the Faculty of Economics, Unsri with university and faculty officials on Tuesday, December 7 .
According to him, the lecturer was disabled from his position as head of the study program at the Management Department, Faculty of Economics, Unsri and was released from teaching duties, being thesis supervisor, testing thesis, and all activities related to students at the Faculty of Economics, Unsri until the legal process of the case was completed.
"The Head of the Management Department will coordinate the change of supervisors for students who are under the auspices of the alleged perpetrator to be immediately replaced with other supervisors," he said.
In addition, the Unsri Faculty of Economics provides guarantees of protection for female students suspected of being victims of sexual harassment and facilitates them in academic matters.
