Rudy Agustian Wants Rothana Rematch In ONE Championship To Restore Confidence
JAKARTA - ONE Championship flyweight fighter from Indonesia Rudy “The Golden Boy” Agustian wants a rematch with Chan Rothana to restore his confidence after suffering two consecutive losses in the free fighting (MMA) event.
Launching Antara, Wednesday, Rudy Agustian has a 7-4 record and three of them were won by knockout and two submissions. He is considered by fans as one of the most talented prospects from Indonesia.
Rudy's last two defeats came against compatriot Abro Fernandes in October 2019, just months after being beaten by Cambodia's Chan Rothana via knockout in the second round.
“I think [to rematch] with Chan Rothana could be the most ideal and most interesting fight for me. I'll be in better shape and form when I face him again. You know my preparation wasn't ideal at the time, but that's the truth isn't it?” said Rudy quoted from Antara.
“I think I also need to look for an opponent from outside Indonesia to strengthen my footing in ONE, as well as to move up the ranks in the division.” he added.
Rudy Agustian has big plans on how to reintroduce himself to ONE Championship fans. The multi-talented flyweight fighter also mentioned that he has no qualms about transitioning between MMA and ONE Super Series, as he hinted at his intention to compete in the all-striking super league event.
“I am also interested in fighting Malaysian fighters. I'm sure it will be interesting for Indonesian fans. I am also registered in ONE Super Series, so I think Azwan Che Wil could be the perfect opponent for my kickboxing debut in ONE,” said Rudy.
Rudy Agustian doesn't yet have his next opponent to face or a confirmed fight date, but the Indonesian star remains optimistic and confident that a fight offer will come his way soon.
If the fight schedule comes, Rudy promises to take advantage of the opportunity and make a good impression on the fans with his performance. Until now, Rudy continues to work hard to prepare for his return to the Circle.
"When I come back it will create good hype. Because of that, I will be open to facing anyone in my division. With the current easing of overseas travel restrictions, I hope to be back again early next year," concluded Rudy Agustian.
