Mount Semeru Eruption Refugees Relocated To School
LUMAJANG - The Regent of Lumajang, East Java, Thoriqul Haq said the local government is trying to provide optimal services to the refugees by relocating them to schools.
Thoriqul conveyed that for the short, medium and long term handling of residents in refugee camps, his party will transfer residents who have fled to educational facilities, such as elementary, junior high, and high schools in Lumajang.
“The refugee camps are now in several public facilities at the village and sub-district halls, then they will be relocated to schools. We are currently making an inventory of elementary, middle, and high school schools that can be used as shelters," he said, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 7.
The process of relocating the affected residents' settlements is currently in the process of identifying locations that are prioritized on land owned by the government and local governments, said Thoriqul.
Meanwhile, the local government is currently consolidating the incoming aid in order to meet the needs of the refugees.
Thoriqul Haq hopes that the media will support the positive spirit in order to create a conducive atmosphere for accelerating post-disaster management.
"This must be coordinated with more productive reporting," he said.
