The Death Toll Due To Floods In West Lombok Increases To 5 People
LOMBOK BARAT - The death toll from the flood that hit parts of West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province, increased to five after officers from the Mataram Search and Rescue Office found another body of a flood victim.
"After searching since Monday (6/12) finally the last victim was found buried in his house today at around 15.50 WITA," said Head of the Mataram Search and Rescue Office Nanang Sigit PH regarding the discovery of the body of a flood victim named H. Suri (75) in the district. West Lombok quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 7th.
Among the flood victims who died, there was a six-month-old baby and an 80-year-old resident.
Flash floods and landslides occurred in North Batulayar Hamlet, West Batulayar Village, West Lombok Regency, on Monday, December 6. In addition to causing the death of five people, the disaster left seven people injured.
Nanang said that since Monday, December 6, SAR officers were dispatched to the flooded area to evacuate residents and search for residents who were reported missing.
Meanwhile, the spokesman for the Mataram Search and Rescue Office, I Gusti Lanang Wisnuwananda, said that all SAR personnel were withdrawn after the last flood victims were found.
"All personnel and equipment have been withdrawn, but we remain on standby for 24 hours because natural disasters and events that endanger humans can occur suddenly," he said.
