BMKG: Beware Of Rain Potential In Nine Maluku Regions
AMBON - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of the Ambon Pattimura Meteorological Station appealed to the public to be aware of rain with moderate to heavy intensity which has the potential to occur in nine regions in Maluku Province within the next one week.
In general, the weather in the Maluku region is forecasted to be cloudy to light rain, but Wilhelmina Paays, Head of the Observation Section of the BMKG Meteorological Station Class II, Pattimura Ambon, said that it is necessary to watch out for the potential for rain with moderate to heavy intensity which can be accompanied by lightning or lightning and strong winds for a moment.
"Rain with moderate to heavy intensity accompanied by lightning, thunder and strong winds has the potential to occur in nine areas in Maluku province, namely South Buru Regency, West Seram (SBB), Eastern Seram (SBT), Central Maluku, Southeast Maluku, Ambon City. , Tual, Aru Islands and Tanimbar " he said, Tuesday, December 7.
He said the existence of cyclonic circulation in the Banda Sea resulted in the formation of wind bends and convergence areas in the Maluku region.
The sea surface temperature anomaly in the Maluku region in the past week is still warm (0.5-2.5 °C) and the humidity in the upper layer (850-700mb) is quite wet, at 70-90 percent.
This indicates that there is potential for evaporation (addition of water vapor mass) in the process of growing rain clouds in the Maluku region for the next one week.
The public is also advised to remain alert to the potential for bad weather (heavy-very heavy rain that can be accompanied by lightning/lightning, strong winds) when it rains.
Bad weather has an impact on a sudden decrease in visibility and the impact of hydrometeorological disasters that can occur such as floods, landslides and fallen trees.
