PPKM Level 3 Canceled, DPR Leader: The Government Is Not Negligent, But Be Careful
JAKARTA - The DPR leadership supports the government regarding the decision to cancel the implementation of PPKM Level 3 on the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year holidays.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, assessed that what the government said about the cancellation of PPKM Level 3 must have gone through a thorough study and intensive monitoring of the COVID-19 rate from day to day. "And also in addition to monitoring the entry of new variants from foreign countries, we see developments from day to day, that there is an actual decline with the rate of COVID-19," said Dasco at the DPR Building, Tuesday, December 7. According to the Daily Chair of the Gerindra Party DPP, the government was not negligent in anticipating COVID-19, especially the emergence of the new variant of Omicron. It's just that, said Dasco, full consideration in every decision and must be based on studies.
"So it's not that it's negligent but then the government has taken caution. Then there was a review so that it was decided as it was decided at this time," Dasco explained.
Dasco considers that what the government has conveyed is a matter of flexibility regarding PPKM. "And it must be so, it must be carefully studied and indeed what decisions must be made at the right time is what we really need," said Dasco. Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) M. Tito Karnavian revealed, from the results of a limited meeting at the Palace, the government saw that the COVID-19 situation was still quite under control, so PPKM level 3 did not need to be implemented. Furthermore, he said, his party will hold a meeting with regional heads to discuss the anticipation of the Christmas and New Year holidays. "We saw from the results of yesterday's limited meeting at the Palace, various inputs showed that the situation was relatively gentle, we saw that the confirmation status figures were relatively low compared to the previous tens of thousands, even yesterday if I'm not mistaken there were a hundred how many. And one of them, including those whose levels are low, not many countries are low," said Tito at the DPR Building, Tuesday, December 7.
