JAKARTA - Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL) Admiral Yudo Margono pinned purple beret to 512 Marine Corps teenage soldiers on the shores of Baruna, Malang, East Java, Tuesday, December 7.
"Be proud to be a Marine Corps soldier, because you have become part of a unit that is the mainstay of the nation and state," said the Navy Chief of Staff as quoted from a press release quoted from Antara.
The 512 juvenile Jalasena "Letarung Samudera" soldiers consisted of 17 AAL Youth Officers Batch 66 personnel, 149 Youth NCO personnel PK XL/1, 148 Youth NCO personnel PK XL/2 and 198 Youth Enlisted personnel PK XL/2.
To arouse respect and pride and high appreciation of the soldiers for the purple beret of the Marine Corps, President Soekarno's speech was heard during the awarding of the banner to the Navy Command Corps and the reading of the last message of KKO AL Soldiers Usman and Harun.
The sacred moment of wearing a beret by the Ceremonial Inspector to the participant's representatives was followed by the utterance of a promise as a Marine Corps soldier by all Marine Corps soldiers.

Yudo reminded the young Marine Corps soldiers to realize that the purple beret color was inspired by the color of the bougenville flowers that always fall before they wither, symbolizing the devotion of Marine Corps soldiers as oceanic knights who are always ready to sacrifice body and soul for the integrity and glory of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia.
"This awareness will guide every step of service wherever you are as a Marine Corps ocean fighter who is ready to give his best in every field of assignment, unlimited loyalty to the Navy, TNI and the nation and state," said the former Pangkogabwilhan I.
Yudo advised to remain friendly, ethical and humane by developing a positive corps spirit in maintaining the solidity of the TNI and Polri as well as with all elements of society.
He also advised to fill the pride by continuing to build body and soul.
