Sayonara Facebook Lite From IOS Devices
JAKARTA - It is rumored that Facebook's social media will deactivate the Facebook Lite service on iOS. As a result, Facebook Lite users in Brazil can no longer access the service.
Launching from MacRumors, Facebook Lite users will get a message notifying you that this service will soon be disabled. In order to stay in touch, Facebook recommends that its users download the regular Facebook application.
"Facebook Lite for iOS will be disabled. You can use the native Facebook application to keep in touch with friends and family," wrote a Facebook notification, Thursday, August 13.
In fact, Facebook Lite is designed to be used on weak internet networks, such as 2G or areas with poor signal conditions. Facebook also cut a number of existing features on regular Facebook so that they can continue to be used.
This application can also be used on smartphones with low specifications. Facebook also launched a light version of the Facebook Messenger app in Turkey in 2018.
"Due to the limited adoption and improvements we are making to improve the experience for people on our app, we no longer support Facebook Lite for iOS," said a Facebook spokesperson.
Of course this is a big question for most Facebook Lite users. The reason is, in 2017 the company claims that Facebook Lite already has 200 million active users and more than 1 billion downloads for the Android version.
Because the Facebook application is considered by a number of users as an application that requires a large enough storage space. For example, the regular Facebook application for iPhone 11 measures 244.78 MB, while Facebook Lite only requires a relatively small 8.7MB.
Prior to this, Instagram had also removed the light version of the app. The Instagram Lite service is no longer available in a number of countries, such as Kenya, Mexico, Peru and the Philippines, since last April.
