The Viral Rice Wrap For The 212 Reunion Participants Kadrun Was Spat On Before Being Distributed, Let's Check The Facts!
JAKARTA - The video uploaded to the Twitter account @bibi_lung1 regarding the food consumed by the 212 Reunion demo participants has gone viral. In the narrative, this account says that the rice wrap is spit on before being distributed.
In the video, a religious leader in white clothes is seen stirring food and placing it in a container. Beside the religious leader there are two people, one holding a food container and the other looking slightly bent.
"Nasbung (rice wrap, ed) for the Kadrun Reunion was spat on first by the korlap Modyar Kowe," said the narration written on the Twitter account quoted from turnbackhoax, Tuesday, December 7.
Let's check, is this narrative true?
The incident of distributing this food actually happened in India, not Indonesia. Quoted from turnbackhoax, from one of the search results with identical videos, Alt News said that the cleric was blowing food, not spitting.
"There are some people who follow this ritual. Even in other areas, some worshipers ask for Dum (water that is blown after reading the verses of the Koran). This is for Barkat (prosperity) and welfare. This is to give Fatiha after the food is prepared," wrote turnbackhoax .
Ritual videos of blowing food are shared by accounts with narrations that do not match the facts, giving rise to wrong conclusions so that it is wrong to relate them to things that are happening in Indonesia (Kadrun and Reuni 212).
Regarding the term Kadrun, The Jakarta Post wrote, "Kadrun is short for desert lizard (dabb lizard), a reptile that inhabits northern Africa and the Middle East.
According to John P. Rafferty in his book Deserts and Steppes, these lizards, when roasted, are a Bedouin specialty. Kadrun is now often used by hardline Jokowi supporters to refer to those who are critical of the President and support Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
