Badminton World Championship Draw Results 2021, Indonesia Drops 16 Representatives
JAKARTA - After undergoing a tournament at the Indonesia Badminton Festival (IBF) in Bali, this year's series of badminton tournaments will be closed with the 2021 World Championships. The world's badminton players will return to their title hunt at the Palacio de los Deportes Carolina Marin, Huelva, Spain.
The 2021 Badminton World Championships are planned to be held from 12 to 19 December. Involving 50 countries, Indonesia also participated by sending 16 representatives in various sectors.
From the results of the drawings released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), there were six Indonesian representatives who got a bye so that they automatically qualified for the second round.
Regarding Indonesia's representation at the 2021 World Championships, in the men's singles sector, Indonesia fielded four of the best players. They are Jonatan Christie, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Sheshar Hiren Rhustavito, and Tommy Sugiarto.
Entering the women's singles sector, there are two representatives who will appear to defend Indonesia, they are Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Ruselli Hartawan.
Turning to Indonesia's mainstay sector, men's doubles, there are at least four pairs that will compete. The four names are Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, and Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin.
Interestingly, from the four names above, three of them will immediately receive a bye and are entitled to advance to the second round. The men's doubles who received byes were Marcus/Kevin, Ahsan/Hendra, and also Fajar/Rian.
Indonesia also did not escape sending quality badminton players in the women's doubles sector. In this sector, there will be Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti/Ribka Sugiarto who will perform.
Of the two names in the women's doubles, Greysia/Apriyani got a bye to immediately appear in the second round. Meanwhile, Siti/Ribka still have to go through the first round by facing the host pair, Clara Azurmendi/Beatriz Corrales.
Shifting to the mixed doubles sector, four Indonesian pairs will appear at the 2021 World Championship. They are Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati, and Dejan Ferdinansyah/Serena Kani.
In the mixed doubles sector, Indonesia got another bonus bye. This time it was obtained by Praveen/Melati who immediately appeared in the second round, so Praveen/Melati could save a little energy to perform more optimally.
