Admits Obscenity, Kisses And Touches Student, Sriwijaya University Lecturer With Initials AR Named As Suspect

PALEMBANG - The South Sumatra (Sumsel) Police has officially named a Sriwijaya University (Unsri) lecturer with the initials AR as a suspect for alleged sexual harassment of a female student with the initials DR (22).

Ditreskrimum Polda Sumsel Kombes Hisar Siallagan said, AR who is a lecturer at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Unsri was named a suspect after investigators pocketed enough evidence.

AR has been examined intensively for nine hours from 09.00 WIB to 18.00 WIB at the South Sumatra Police Headquarters.

"We have sufficient evidence of the sexual abuse committed by AR. Therefore, a lecturer with the initials AR has been named a suspect," he said in Palembang, Antara, Monday, December 6.

According to him, before investigators, the suspect admitted to his obscene acts against the victim. The suspect kissed, touched the victim, but did not have sex, as the victim had previously confessed.

The lewd act was carried out by suspect AR in the mode of providing thesis guidance to the victim, which took place at the History Laboratory of FKIP Unsri, Indralaya Campus, Ogan Ilir, last Saturday, September 25.

"The victim at that time was conducting thesis guidance and asked for a signature for his thesis as a condition for graduation. It took place in the history laboratory, at the moment the suspect carried out his actions earlier," he said.

In addition to securing the suspect, the police also secured evidence belonging to the victim. For his obscene act, the suspect is suspected of violating Article 289 of the Criminal Code regarding Obscenity and Acts That Attack Jo's decency. Article 294 paragraph (2) points 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code carries a sentence of nine years imprisonment.

"The suspect has been detained since Monday at 00.00 WIB for the next 20 days at the South Sumatra Police Headquarters," he said.
