2000 Flags Of Mass Organizations In South Jakarta Are Removed, Police: A Symbol Of Vulnerable Conflict In Order

JAKARTA - The joint apparatus of the South Jakarta Metro Police have disciplined props in the form of attribute flags of various community organization groups (ormas) in the South Jakarta area for the past week. Control of the props is to minimize disturbances to Kamtibmas.

"We have secured almost 2,000 symbolic flags or attributes from several mass organizations," said South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Azis Andriansyah to reporters, Monday, December 6.

Then, continued the Police Chief, there are several posts or substations that we direct to order or function again according to their designation.

"There are also several postal substations that occupy other people's substations. We also recommend that we organize them either by our own awareness or later we will arrange them," he said.

The Head of Police admits that in the South Jakarta area there are several potential incidents of Kamtibmas disturbances starting from brawls, fights, groups and between motorcycle gangs that cause people to lose their souls.

"Fights between mass organizations often occur, so we three pillars decided to provide a calm situation in South Jakarta. So we carried out an operation to create conditions," he said.

One of the steps taken is to bring order to the symbols of groups and community organizations (ormas). The police chief assessed that this symbol could lead to conflict.

"For example, removing the flag, tearing the flag, destroying the substation post can cause widespread fights. So we will control the symbols," he said.

The control of props or symbols such as flags was carried out because they violated Perda Nonor 8 of 2007.
