COVID Vaccination Rate In Kupang NTT Still Low Due To Hoax, Regency Government Asks Religious Leaders For Help

KUPANG - The Government of Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) collaborates with religious and community leaders to jointly eradicate the COVID-19 vaccine hoax. Directly, the hoax about the COVID vaccine had a big impact on the public's enthusiasm for injections.

"There are still many people who have not been vaccinated because they are afraid of the dangers of the vaccine, after a lot of incorrect information circulating in the community about the vaccine," said Secretary of the Kupang District Health Office, Dr Cokorda Swastika in Kupang, Antara, Monday, December 6.

He said that the achievement of COVID-19 vaccination in the district was still low because it was only about 52 percent of the target of 281,419 people. To accelerate the achievement of vaccination, cooperation with various parties is needed.

"We also hope that synergy can occur to jointly prevent excessive hoaxes related to the COVID-19 vaccine," he said.

To suppress hoaxes about vaccines, the relevant agencies continue to disseminate information to the public regarding the impact and side effects of the vaccination.

"We ask for help from religious leaders so that they can participate in conveying to their people in the pulpit of churches or mosques that the vaccine is safe," he said.

He hoped that the collaboration could help efforts to increase the achievement of COVID-19 vaccination in the area.

"And of course with joint efforts to eradicate hoaxes about vaccines," he said.
